In a time when anatomy has been made political and the right to bodily autonomy is repeatedly under question, this piece urges the viewer to take a considered look at these organs, to celebrate their power and hear the plea to break the chains of oppression and outside control that often surround the female reproductive system. Positioned head-on like a Georgia O'Keeffe skull painting and rendered using a variety of techniques, including watercolor, fabric applique, and needle felting. This piece was also inspired by Robineau's "The Apotheosis of the Toiler," a ceramic vase depicting an intricate carved motif of scarabs pushing their eggs in a never-ending uphill battle.
