Description

This is an engraving done on a thrifted glass mirror. The technique is similar in some ways to tattooing, as it requires a steady hand and high contrast for legibility. I chose cherry blossoms, recognized in tattooing and japanese art as a symbol of growth and fleeting life in addition to an animal skull and some ornamentals to represent the spring season, and the cycle of growth and rebirth. *Note photos are taken from an angle because the mirror is difficult to photograph head on without creating distraction from the work!
