Description

The Punk Jacket is an outlier in my work. An experiment in an unfamiliar medium (textiles) and technique (embroidery). 128 musicians are hand embroidered over the entire blazer. The intended idea was to keep within punk and ska genres, but I had to include some personal influences and historically important names of other genres. While any music lover can appreciate the piece, the actual process was deeply personal. The project started roughly the same time my father was diagnosed with cancer. He observed much of the work but passed before its completion, giving this piece more emotional energy than I am uncomfortable with.
