Description

"Death clutches" asks if the upfront costs of death for fashion are better/worse/same as the slow after-effects death via sweatshops, microplastics, and waste. The work is comprised of 2 opposing clutch-style purses that combine into one. One clutch is made of natural materials - indigenous-sourced leather salvaged from hunters who only need the animal meat to feed their families, wool yarn from the Abbott Machine Company Spinning Division from Wilton, NH, and local animals bones, processed by the artist. The other clutch is made of synthetic materials - repurposed pleather, acrylic yarn, resin "bones", and acrylic paint.
