After moving to New Hampshire from outside of Washington, DC earlier this year, it took me a long time to rediscover a sense of "home." While I love where we live, we've had to grapple with a number of house issues and work our way through seemingly endless DIY projects to repair our house and make it feel like us. I was in upstate New York this summer when I painted this wood stack - after pondering why I felt the urge to paint it, I realized it was because it was reminding me of home in New Hampshire, where wood stacks are a common sight in yards (including my own). It was the first time I'd thought of our new house as home in a comforting, familiar way, and marked a full circle moment for me as I redefine what and where home is.
