Color is the spice in the artist’s life. I started experimenting with paint color swatches from the hardware store in order to broaden my color horizon and to avoid overusing the same hues and to design underpaintings for future works. My love of collections and quilting background brought about the idea to create these colorful collages full of joy and visual interest.

Artist Statement:
Daniela Wenzel is a New Hampshire based artist, born in East Germany where her childhood was shaped by socialist politics, local artisan culture, vast mountainous landscapes and her close-knit family.
Primarily creating geometric abstractions that explore biomorphic and architectural renderings, and also narrative subject matter, her cyclical practice includes oil painting, watercolor, ink, printmaking, sculpture, driftwood pyrography and fiber work.
Daniela works intuitively, drawing inspiration from nature and architecture, fragments of memory and personal experiences. She pulls from an array of colors, patterns and shapes to create a unified and coherent visual experience that conveys her colorful artistic language.
Her practice demonstrates the power of creativity as a source of resiliency and stubborn endurance.
