Artist Statement:
I have always found that exploring the natural landscape heals, recharges, and inspires me. My artmaking is inspired by the desire to recapture that time I spend in NH forests and the natural environments I visit in my travels. When I make art, I’m transported back. I see the landscape in my minds eye and catch a moment of its smell, sound and energy. My recent work uses trail and topographic maps as a foundation for my landscape images. These serve as a concrete reminder of place, while transparent inks bring an intensity of color that helps to ‘vibrate’ the work. My artwork invites the viewer to stand in the landscape with me and perhaps remember their own experiences, wonder what is around the corner, down the trail or off in the distance. More importantly I want to provide a moment that connects the viewer with the rejuvenating energy of our natural environment.
