Description:
“Bolide” is an extremely bright meteor, or an extraterrestrial body on a collision path with Earth. This piece features a child which has hidden himself enough and has become his own fireball. The children being the creation of earth itself. A child observes and absorbs every emotion placed on them while continuing to create an impact on the earth. The child in this piece is created in a sketch style which represents the need for the child to gain some of his own color. His passion is there, burning, waiting to create an impact, yet he hides from the things that keep him from the darkness in his own aura. His impact will, indeed, be greater than he feels at the moment. All of the elements in this piece are created by my own hand using a tablet, pen and a lot of love. This piece is on paper canvas and mounted on a wood panel on a floating frame. I want to make a note how the title “Bolide” can take on a whole different story line if it is misspelled as “bullied” in which the child may be feeling a host of different emotions. This piece features some new techniques which I used to create the rainbow of flames, different methods of warping, blending and utilization of color and layering create the brilliant contrast to the dark background and sketched style of the subject boy.
