Description

This a piece made using alcohol inks and gold brass for the leaves and flowers, alcohol ink markers for the stems, and liquid pearls for flower centers and buds. Leaves and flowers were made without touching the paper and by using a hot air tool at low temperature to move the inks around and create the ripples and shapes. The piece has been varnished and protected against UV light by applying 3 coats of Krylon Kamar Varnish and two coats of Krylon UV Archival Varnish.

Artist Statement:

Cristina was born in Romania, where she graduated with an MS in Computer Science. She currently lives in the New Hampshire, where she’s also teaching Global Issues through Model United Nations to homeschool high school students. Few years ago she fell in love with acrylic fluid art, particularly the Dutch pour technique. Later she started using alcohol inks and fell in love with this medium. She finds moving the inks on paper an exercise in mental flexibility and a truly mesmerizing process that allows her to create delicate ripples, landscapes, flowers, and other evocative shapes that connect to the beauty of our natural world.
