This piece was created using strips cut from a series of handwritten letters that were woven together to form the base for the drawing on top. While some words can be picked out around the edges, most of the original content from the correspondence is obscured by the weaving, representing how the messages eventually blur together and fade into our personal history.
Artist Statement:
As an artist, I am passionate about exploring the connection between our pasts and futures, where we’ve been and where we are going. I enjoy experimenting with different materials and techniques, including painting, collage, and fiber arts, and using items from everyday life, repurposing them and bestowing new meaning.
